The survey

In addition to the excavations at the tel, we have started a survey in the site's vicinity. The most conspicuous finds are many tombs, part of a cemetery that covers the entire area around the site. Hundreds of features, mainly tombs, have already been surveyed, and it appears that there were a few thousands tombs in the vicinity of the site. Among the tombs one can identify Intermediate Bronze Age Shaft tombs, and tombs from the Late Bronze Age, the Iron Age I, Iron Age II and later periods were previously excavated.
